One of the oldest, original makers of premium cuban cigars, Don Jaime Partagas established his first factory in 1845, the “Real Fabricas de Tabaco Partagas.” The “Real” (Royal) moniker in the factory name reflects Don Jaime’s status as a supplier of premium cigars to European and Asian nobility; Don Jaime owned most of the tobacco plantations in the Vuelte Abajo region of Cuba, and as a result, could select from the world’s finest tobaccos for his cigars. A true pioneer of the modern Cuban cigar, Don Jaime experimented with various methods for curing and fermenting his premium tobaccos, and is credited with the creation of the lector. The natural result of Don Jaime’s labours was a marque of impeccable reputation; Partagas enjoyed enormous success, accounting for a quarter of all tobacco goods exported from Cuba by 1958.
The Partagas mille-fleur are, like most Partagas, very well-constructed cigars, drawing well, and burning evenly and consistently. These cigars have smooth wrappers with minimal veining, and rich, earthy flavours of wood, leather, and hints of cream. Perfect for winter smoking, Partagas are inexpensive, quick smokes that age exceptionally well.
